Store tasks you want to do someday but are not sure exactly when. Think of it as your “someday” list.

Walkthrough

How to use

Accessing the backlog

There are three ways to open the backlog:

  • Click the “Filebox” icon in the right-hand panel
  • Use keyboard shortcut Shift B to toggle the backlog view in the right panel
  • Use the command palette to search for and toggle the backlog

Moving tasks into and out of the backlog

You can move tasks into the backlog by:

  • Dragging and dropping a task into the backlog
  • Hovering over a task and pressing Z
  • Typing @backlog in the add task modal
  • Clicking the calendar icon on a task card and selecting backlog
  • Clicking the “Add a task” button at the top of the backlog panel

Move tasks out of the backlog using similar methods, such as dragging them from the backlog panel back into a daily column.

Filtering and searching

You can filter backlog items by channel or context. Click the “Search” button in the top-right corner of the backlog panel to search for specific items.

Best practices

  • Move frequently rolling-over tasks to the backlog to keep your daily task list focused.
  • The backlog is not a replacement for a project management tool.
  • Create a weekly “Review Backlog” recurring task to prevent items from being forgotten.
  • Workaround for templates: Create a task in the backlog under a “Templates” channel, then duplicate it when needed.
  • Tasks moved to the backlog will automatically shift to today’s column when you start a timer or allocate calendar time for them.
