Keyboard Shortcuts: the basics

Common keyboard shortcuts to help you achieve a smooth workflow in Sunsama.

While using keyboard shortcuts is not necessary, some common ones can help you achieve a smooth workflow in Sunsama.

Hit the ? key on your keyboard to pull up a searchable list of Sunsama keyboard shortcuts.

A — Add a task

Hit A to open the add task modal to create a new task. Within the add task modal, you can enrich your task with keys like ~ to set a planned time, or # to assign a channel.

Create the task with Enter or CMD/Ctrl Enter which will create the task and open it.

Task navigation

Use arrow keys or your mouse to highlight a task in your kanban. While a task is highlighted, you can do many things such as:

  • CMD/Ctrl Enter to open it
  • Space to start the task timer
  • C to complete it
  • F to enter Focus mode for that task
  • X to auto-schedule it
  • D to snooze it one day
  • Z to move it to the backlog
  • CMD/Ctrl Delete to delete it
  • G to open the linked/integrated task in its underlying tool

Focus bar

The focus bar has a few global shortcuts, such as starting or stopping the task timer with CMD/Ctrl Shift Space. See Focus bar for more.

Many of the views and rituals can be entered with keyboard shortcuts, such as:

Task notes

In the task notes, type / to bring up markdown editor options.

Refresh Sunsama

If you’re ever having a technical issue with Sunsama loading or otherwise performing, try refreshing Sunsama with CMD/Ctrl R, or a hard refresh with CMD/Ctrl Shift R.

Global add task shortcut

With the desktop app open, you can create a task without needing to return to Sunsama. Just use the global add task shortcut, which is CMD/Ctrl Shift A by default. See the global add task keyboard shortcut guide for more.
